Security film helps hold broken glass together and can delay forced entry through a window or glass door. The glass, film, frame and attachment work together. Watch the impact demonstration to see the tested configuration.
No. Security window film is not bulletproof and does not make glass unbreakable. It should not be treated as bullet-resistant glazing.
Thickness is one part of the specification. We review your glass, frame, location and security priorities before recommending a film. We offer Madico Clear and Solar Gard Armorcoat in 8 mil and 14 mil; you can also ask about 15 mil. Compare the film specifications.
Some installations need an attachment system to help retain filmed glass in the frame after it breaks. The Solar Gard demonstration on this page uses structural silicone attachment. We assess your glazing before defining those details.
Film is applied to existing glazing, but compatibility depends on the glass type, its condition and the selected product. We check these during the assessment, including any relevant glazing or film warranty conditions.
Clear security films preserve a largely transparent appearance. Solar-control and reflective films can change the tint or reflectivity, while frosted film creates a translucent finish. We help you compare the options for your space.
Reflective privacy relies on a difference in light levels. When it is brighter indoors than outside, the privacy effect can reverse, so blinds or curtains may still be needed. For a fixed privacy finish, consider frosted film.
Frosted film provides a permanent translucent finish. Electrically controlled smart film switches between clear and frosted states. Both can be used for interior privacy, but they work differently. Explore frost and smart film and see our Vivo Avanti installation.
Solar-control films can reduce solar heat gain and glare; UV-filtering films reduce ultraviolet transmission. The result depends on the product and glazing. Expand the solar and optical specifications on this page to compare figures such as TSER, visible light transmission and UV rejection.

Wait until the film has cured before cleaning; follow the care instructions supplied for your installation. Use a soft cloth and a suitable non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid abrasive pads, powders or scraping the film with sharp tools.
